The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is hiring a second arts program specialist at the Department.

DESE seeks to hire a contracted arts program specialist to support the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Initiatives and programming related to the arts. The experienced arts program specialist will provide support in the following areas:
Support DESE initiatives and programming related to the Arts.
Identify, gather, and organize information about Arts programming and special events taking place in public schools throughout the state.
Builds working relationships and communicates with Arts educators throughout the state.
Conducts district and school visits, and attend Arts events both in-person and virtually.
Presents and reports on the information gathered as well as on school visits and/or events to the Arts Content Lead and the Commissioner’s office.
Perform other duties as assigned by Arts Content Lead.
Develop relationships internally and externally with key stakeholders to effectively convey the Department’s core mission and work.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Based on assignment, travel throughout the Commonwealth is required.
This contracted position will be part-time (18 -22.5 hours/week) and primarily in the districts.
The contractor will attend events around the state as required, including during evenings and weekends as determined by event schedules.
Preferred qualifications:
Knowledge of Arts education and Arts and cultural events throughout the Commonwealth
Familiarity and experience with at least one artistic discipline in the MA Arts Curriculum Framework (visual art, music, theater, dance, and media arts)
Experience collaborating with others as part of a team
Ability to create resources such as reports or schedules accurately and with attention to detail
Comfort working with technology, including Zoom, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook), and online survey tools such as Alchemer
Minimum qualifications required at hire:
Has familiarity and knowledge of the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Framework
Bachelor’s degree
