MAEA Professional Development offerings

HANDS-ON PROJECT-BASED PD OFFERINGS


We are happy to share we are introducing a new series of hands-on project-based professional development opportunities. See below for the March offerings and check back for more coming soon. Each registrant will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of the individual workshop. If you attend a total of 5 unique workshops (10 hours), you can submit a request for a PDP certificate. All workshops will be offered twice a month – once on a Saturday morning and once on a Thursday evening. The content for Saturday and Thursday will be the same. If you would like the member pricing, consider joining MAEA/NAEA: massarted.com/join-renew Pay What You Can Option If you are unable to pay the MAEA/NAEA Member or Non Member ticket fees, please consider paying as much as you can using the “Pay What You Can” option. Without your support these workshops would not be possible. GELLIARTS WORKSHOP: EXPLORE MONO PRINTING WITH A GELATIN PLATE SESSION 1 – APRIL 27 6:00 – 8:00 PM GELLIARTS WORKSHOP: EXPLORE MONO PRINTING WITH A GELATIN PLATE SESSION 2 – APRIL 29 9:00 – 11:00 AM GelliArts reusable printing plates are a fantastic and easy to use medium for creating mono prints in the classroom and for use in your own art making! Treated correctly they last for years and years and will become a favorite media for your students or yourself. The facilitator will demonstrate a variety of techniques from basic to advanced. She will discuss management rules for use with K-5 students; classroom preparation, set-up, cleaning and storage will be shown. All of the techniques we will explore have been classroom tested and are successful. In this hands-on workshop you will:

  • Engage in a demonstration featuring easy to more advanced techniques.

  • Explore techincal applications with water-based media, such as watercolors, markers and acrylic paint.

  • Learn quick and easy registration techniques, stamping, stenciling, collage and image transfers.

  • Explore textures using mesh fruit bags, bubblewrap, brushes, combs, etc.

Additional Content:

  • Examples of homemade texture tools.

  • Slide deck and links to lesson plans and examples.

Participants can use a handmade gelatin printing plate if they choose to make one at home, or purchase a Gelliplate. A coupon code from the Gelliplate company will be sent in your confirmation email.
